We're Green, are you?
We use reduce, recycle and reuse as much as we can in running our business. We also use green products and services wherever we can, and pledge to monitor, reduce and offset the environmental impacts of our work. We can help you achieve the same by offering green services to you, and by helping you green your business directly through our ecoaudit service.

Our EcoAudit

An EcoAudit is an independent review of your organisation’s impact on the environment – its carbon or eco-footprint. We offer our EcoAudit consultancy services to businesses and companies. We encourage all businesses to look at the environmental impacts of their operations and services, and take steps to reduce them through our EcoAudit recommendations. The aim is to monitor and minimise the organisation’s environmental impacts and compensate or balance remaining impacts, improving environmental performance, whilst also improving overall performance through energy-efficiencies and financial savings, and adding customer value to products and services.

A key part of the EcoAudit is to reduce and minimise environmental impacts. Our hope is that these also translate into financial and operational benefits. However there are inevitably unavoidable environmental impacts in operating any business. We calculate the ‘environmental cost’ of these impacts, through an environmental impact index, and suggest possible methods to compensate their effects with the invitation to financially invest in conservation and environmental education initiatives. We call this eco-balancing and 100% of the funds raised from this element of the programme will be invested into the development of local EcoElements projects and initiatives.

The full eco-footprint of an organisation encompasses a wide range of emissions sources from direct use of energy to indirect impacts up and down the supply chain. When calculating an organisation’s eco-footprint it is important to try and quantify as full a range of emissions sources as possible in order to provide a complete picture of the organisation’s impact.

In order to produce a reliable eco-footprint, it is important to follow a structured process and to classify all the possible sources of emissions thoroughly. One method is to group and report on emissions by the level of control which an organisation has over them. On this basis, greenhouse gas emissions can be classified into three main types:

1. Direct emissions that result from activities the organisation controls

2. Emissions from the use of electricity

3. Indirect emissions from products and services

Despite emerging international standards not all organisations follow the same approach to calculating their eco-footprint, or even classify their emissions in the same way. We adopt established best practice to deliver a service which allows organisations to assess, measure and monitor environmental impacts, recommend action on reducing and minimising these impacts, and identify methods of offsetting remaining ‘core’ operational impacts.

What does an EcoAudit involve?

The EcoAudit is a confidential overview of your organisation activities, examining:

• Energy efficiency and use

• Water consumption and management

• Raw material use and carbon emissions

• Use of resources, recycling and waste minimisation practices

• Transportation policy

• Environmental policy and management ethics

The EcoAudit review provides a basis for establishing on-going monitoring systems and for setting targets for reducing emissions. Early assessments can also provide benchmarks to compare relative greenhouse gas performance between business units or competitors.

A report summarising the review process and outcomes will be produced - recommending actions which can be taken to reduce your company eco-footprint. The audit will also review the organisation’s environmental policy statement and environmental management procedures. Recommendations made will include consideration of becoming eco-balanced through investment in EcoElements, or other independent, projects.

The EcoAudit will also establish the baseline information necessary for the ongoing measurement and review of the organisation’s environmental impacts, including information needed to develop internal annual EcoAudit systems, and information to assist with implementation of the recommendations arising out of the audit provided.
